SHREVEPORT AFTERSHOCK RECOGNIZED AT SHREVEPORT CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Shreveport Aftershock-July 8, 2008
Along with City Council Members of Shreveport Louisiana, Mayor Cedric Glover recognizes the efforts of the Shreveport Aftershock Women’s Tackle Football Team. Council Member Joe Shine invited the Shreveport Aftershock to meet the council after meeting Evelyn “Da Beef” Turner and Sonja “Sweet Sonja” Blackshire when out in the community of Shreveport. The Mayor and Council congratulated the team on their recent State Championship win at the Battle of the Boot. Mayor Glover enthusiastically supports the team and even joked about coaching.

Your very own Shreveport Aftershock defeated the Baton Rouge’s Louisiana Fuel 56-0 during the final game of the Battle of the Boot. The Shreveport Aftershock becomes the 2008 Louisiana State Champions. Thank you for cheering on your winning home town team during this new tradition in Louisiana women’s football.

A big thank you to Realness Magazine, Philadelphia Center, and Planned Parenthood for hosting Shreveport’s 1st annual Hip Hop March for National HIV Testing. A excited and supportive community attended the event taking advantage of free HIV testing and festivities. The Shreveport Aftershock leaded the March for HIV testing, which spanned the Highland Area and ending at the Philadelphia Center with a 89second moment of silence for those who have fallen from the AIDS/HIV. Thank you for allowing us to be part of such an important cause.
